It prompted me because of the lowered look and the throwing stars...

Its a 540 but thats all I know until Monday morning...

That VIN shows up as a 94 540i auto; prod 7-94 on realoem

Wrong bumper (M Sport bumpers on M Sport), wrong built time (M Sport was built late 1995), wrong mirrors (M mirrors on M Sport), so no it's a standard Model year 1995 540iA in Hellrot.

The front bumper is unique on M5 no other E34 has it, the M Sport/M540i and Euro cars with M Sport package has and similar bumper but with a different lower part (more sharp and sporting than M5) in the rear only the M5 has the black part between the taillights (+ a series of 520i for the Italian market built 1993) so you can always tell a 540i M Sport/M540i a part from a M5 if they are in factory condition.

I can't tell for sure from that tiny photo but it doesn't even look like it has 540i brake ducts in the front. Am I missing something?

When they have front-end collisions the shop will sometimes use a junkyard bumper or order the incorrect one.

It's a MY 1995 540iA they don't have ducts, only MY 1994 has ducts, top speed on a 94 is 240 km/h, 95's stop at 210 km/h so the ducts ain't needed.

This apply for North American 540i, all 6speed and later 94's and newer Euro model 540i has a 250 km/h top speed and of course ducts.
