Got a call from my son an hour or two back. "Dad, I think the diff's blown up" He's out in the 535 manual ... Got there, started her up - ratatatat. One dead guibo. After a bit of a verbal slap around the ears (methinks he might have been a bit harsh on the gearchanges) I've left him to wait for the tow truck.

Don't you just love it when something breaks when someone else is driving it!:D

I wonder if the old V8 Mercedes ones I've got lying around will fit?

Ha, ha. Wait for the truck junior then Papa will instruct you on dropping the exhaust and driveshaft on an old car. Oh, did you have a date tonight? Sorry.

Maybe he'd already had the date and was trying to get away from an irate father..:D

He did 5 high speed laps of Eastern Creek circuit with the date's father (who was an instructor for the V8 Supercar Experience)

Car's up on stands - oops, not the guibo. Dad's copping a ribbing from the upstart engineering student who said it was the diff. Diff's out, lots of little gear pieces in it. New (second hand) diff is there waiting to go in. We are going from 3.64 to 3.91.

Shame - I could have helped you out with the guibo. Have a brand new one which I bought at the same time as the centre bearing, not knowing that autos don't have the guibo ..... anyone in Oz need a guibo suits the E34 manual?
