Whats that navigation system? Was it sold by BMW as an accessory or something? Or is it even actually BMW?

That car has potential. Dunno about the nav system, or the steering wheel/caps, but it looks good otherwise.

car looks very nice. I don't particularly like the navigation either, but I've never seen anything like that saying BMW on it.

yea it probably only needs about $4k in repairs over the next 6 months!

Pretty, but the nav system sticks out like a sore thumb.

Still.... a rare feature.

Sort of makes you question the rest of the car when it's presented without three $15 hubcaps and with a $5 WalMart wheel-skin. I mean really, what does it take? Run the other way!

personally i dont think the nav is a genuine e 34 retro fit.I am sure bmw would have figured a neater way to do it.

That nav system looks ridiculous. I don't care if it's really cheap I still wouldn't get it. I'm happy with my Magellan

Meh...I'd have to say I much prefer TrafficPro headunit that my father's got in the M5...

That looks pretty cool MTechnik540i. How does it give direction? Is it voice-readout only or does it show basic directions on the LCD screen as well? Looks very nice and suited to the E34 cabin, even the backlighting is similar!

PS. your dad needs to clean up his A/C button :P

It's displayed on the screen, it's also got a voice read-out (Several different voices available, also!) You've got the option, on the voice read-out, to just slightly mute out the music or cut off the music completely (While it's talking).

You'll see the same headunit in several Porsche offerings, apparently you also see them in Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

BMW actually offered this headunit as an accessory in Europe.

Wow! I really like the look of that. how much does something like that go for?
Can you hook an Ipod up to it?

Yep, looks pretty naff to me... I much prefer mine - even if it is stuck on the windscreen with one of those rubber (plastic?) sucker things.

My other hobby is amateur radio & I've seen people try to install stuff using goosenecks and other home-made mounting devices, they all look terrible, maybe it's just me but I *do* like things to look as neat and cleanly installed as possible.

It does have an Aux. input for iPod/MP3 players.

They're NLA now, you see the exchange hands for $600~ now.

Thanks...If there's one thing I really can't stand, it's how a lot of the newer aged head-units look inside the E34 (or about any BMW). If these audio companies would just learn that the simplistic look is what people really want.

I know what you mean, I would love a stereo that suits the interior on my car better on my touring but the features just aren't there. I've got screens attached to a DVD player / tv tuner / Ipod etc mainly to keep the kids happy on long journeys and I would loose all that if I went for a factory looking unit. Mine is an Alpine so the illumination is green, its not that bad but it would be better in red. You can buy red ones and I've been on the look out but they are rare. I can't do anything about the finish - the black is a slightly different shade and the texture is different but it sounds superb so I can live with it.

My 535 has a sony active panel stereo which illuminates red and white. The black panel surprisingly suits the interior well.

That Harmon Karndon unit looks sweet, I bet it sounds amazing, the compromise I suppose is the size of the screen - bit small for satnav. Still a million times better looking (and sounding no doubt) than that horrid thing in the original post. The rest of the car looks ok though.

I agree. I like sticking mine to windshield as needed, then putting it away when I don't. That one is mounted too low to look at quickly without pulling your eyes off the road...

What does this guy do with the car, deliver pizzas?;)

That is what MATURE buyers want... most buyers think flashy and tacky is better.

Hey guys!

I know this doesn't belong here, and it's quite a dumb question but whereabouts on the car is this sticker:
