Strange ring after I shut it off

I have a 91 525i 165000 miles in excellant shape.

Just 10 minutes ago I came home from the store shut the car off, got out. Then a ringing started up, it is coming from the dash area and stops when I put the key back in and turn it. About 10-15 sec after I pulled the key out the ringing started up again.
The pitch of the ring is like the warning bell but stuck on. Pretty loud too.

Does anyone have any ideas, I never heard of this one.

No the lights arn't on. Everything is off.
Went down just now and pulled the negative cable off the battery.
I've never heard of this happening.
It is the same pitch as the warning bell, but stays on.

It seems to be coming from the behind the steering wheel maybe to the left of it, as you're looking down at it.

lower left, jusrt above the dead pedal.

maybe try unplugging the CCM and see if the terminals need to be cleaned.
