View Full Version : Fuel problem back - new codes

Very hot day... temps above 115, car was struggling to gain RPM. No lights. Got home (miracle) and went to listen and smell around. I thought I smelled fuel, did not see a leak (however with a hot engine and 115 temps it would evaporate quick) I did hear a strange racket in the fuel system by the tank. It had a cycling pulsing sound, almost a vibration. Still no light.

Went back 30 mins later, started car, ran better... check light. Code 1221. The last time it was throwing 1222.

So I guess it is back to the drawing board.

If the oxygen sensor was out (code 1221) would / could that cause the type of fuel related issues I am experiencing?

Thanks for any input
Don

I would say it is the MAF rather than the O2 sensor.

I'll be working on it today... will find out if the OS2 code is a symptom, or a problem.

The problem is intermittent. I am fairly certain my fuel pump and or fuel regulator is on the way out. I think it /they cause the mixture to go rich or lean because of a fuel pressure problem. and then it causes the codes.

Going to check the whole thing out again today.

Thanks
