I needed the plastic tube for the alternator cooling system. so I bought part 03, 04 & 05. I don't think i actually need part 04, well because part 5 goes to the piece behind the headlight, and part 03 is the part that actually goes into the alternator pipe. Is part 04 for a 525i or another E34 engine?

Because it doesn't look like i will be needing that part.

I did the exact same thing a while back, ending up wasting $17 bucks on that #4 piece which was not needed. I'm still not sure what the hell it goes to. It's wierd 'cause normally with realoem if you put in your specific car model/year etc (or even the last 6 of your vin, which really narrows it down), it will only list parts relevant to your car, yet this one shows up. Anyways, don't order it 'cause you won't need it.

I used the tubing for used to vent the exhaust from a gas water heater. it can twist around to fit most configurations. Once it got in place with the desired bends, I applied a little gorilla glue and painted it black.

it is most durable.

04 looks like the one used on my m50 525i.
It's all one piece with the kick over.

The one on my M5 was missing - so I used one of the old shock absorber boots. One of these years I might put the right one back on

When the ends of mine came apart. I repaired it by using some of that aluminum duct tape. Covered the whole tube with a couple layers of it.
Looks kind of strange having a chrome looking tube with all black everywhere else.
I might paint it black some day.......
