I have Avon Tech M550 all-season tires on my car right now and I love 'em. The only thing is they're not that good in the snow

Personally I found the smaller avons to be a bit, er, interesting.

I had a set on my pug 205TD and couldnt stop it sliding... having said that the 205TD was far too heavy for it's wheels.

I have Avon M500. They are nice tire... When weather is hot, everything is great... quiet and lots of grip, but when weather is cold, they are a bit noisy. Seems to wear pretty fast.

I would recommends you buy the General Exclaim UHP instead, I got them too and they are far far far better than Avon M500. TireRack survey also shows them to be far superior to Avon... Avon M500 is like #8 or 9 and General is #1.

is it possible to run 245 rubber instead of 235 on a style 19 or no? i forget how wide these wheels are.

i don't think so. my front wheels are 18x8 and 235 is the widest i could buy... i don't think an extra 10 mm in tire width would work but check it out

Avon Tech M550s are a great versatile tire. I put them on my wife and fathers car. I use General UHP myself (for $$$ and tread pattern), and will probably get them again... or Fuzions.

Most find that eventually (12k miles or so) the M550's get so noisy you have to either replace the tires or blow your brains out. Mine (17") still have plenty of tread left at about 15k, they just make such a racket from feathered outer edges (front and rear) that I'm considering paying real money for tires (Yoko S.4). I have no experience with the 500's. I had to get Avon to replace a set of tires on my BMW motorcycle due to cracks in the tread and uneven tread block wear (feathered edges, raised centers, etc). They are so bad I'll never use Avons on my bikes again. You might want to read the feedback at TireRack.com, particularly the comments from those with more than a couple of thousand miles on their tires. AFAIK, Tire Rack is the only source for Avon car tires in the U.S. right now. They are great folks but have denied any problem with the wear pattern on the Avons.
