This is what the "specialist" did at Petrol Jet in Brisbane. So was wondering whether anyone here would know which way the chip is suppose to be installed.

Hi.

As requested, attached is a photo of the IC that has been removed from the printed circuit board. This IC was rattling around loose in the case when we opened the unit, and as there is no marking on the board as to pin orientation, we are unable to determine which way around it is meant to be installed.

Let us know what you want us to do.

If you can that would be much appreciated mate, I will shout you a beer next time I am in town. :D

This is the first and last time Petrol Jet will get my business.

Just a note, the marked number 2295 will be different on somebody else's chip (22nd week of 1995?). because that corresponds to the week of manufacture of the chip. perhaps the suffix that precedes it could also be different (wh)

Evan, have you had a look yet? I believe this IC is the one that is directly underneath the ECU, its the one bmwe34.net talks about that rubs on the ECU after you change it to an after market one.
