Tough start to fathers day.
6 am, on my way to work I came upon a late '90's model blazer weaving from passing lane to shoulder. As the truck wandered to the shoulder the second time, I dropped from 6th to 4th and shot from 60 - 90 and in a blink I was past. I my mirror I watched in horror as the driver overcompensated and started to roll. 3 times side roll ending in upside down facing the wrong way in the shoulder of the passing lane.
I reached for my cell, dialed 911, hit the 4-ways and raced back the 20 or so car lengths to the wreckage. By this time the driver had crawled out of the sliver that was the drivers window and stood severely shaken before me.
I asked her if she knew her name and if she knew what had happened. She told me her name was Lisa and she couldn't steer the truck and she was in an accident. Since her truck was now smoking from the fluids leaking on the hot engine, I hurried her back to my car where we waited for the authorities.
There is so much to the story, but that's the idea anyway. Count your blessings. Tell your children you love them. Tell your parents you love them.
Happy Father's Day

The 540i definitely had the power to get me out of a couple situations I didn't want be around.

60-90 is a 3rd gear pull tho. ;)

Fortunately for us, BMW usually tosses some torque into their cars, so we don't have to worry about that :P

Be safe guys!

Care to speculate on the cause?SMS makes me do weird things when I drive. Must get a car kit so I can look down more when I am pecking out the characterz...

Be safe guys!Torque helps at stoplights, HP passes on the freeway. If you've driven a 540i, you'd realize that torque or not, it's a totally different beast above 4500.

If she said hard to control, I'd speculate ball joint failure... probably on steering system.

I see passenger rear tire kinda really bald.

Or maybe just a woman driver :D

I forgot that a flat tire will do that too... a blowout. Well, the logic is to stop the damn car... but no... you rather tug with the car and then after a triple flips...

I had a tire blowout on my wife's car (which i drive maybe once a year) and didn't even realize it... Sounds more like a sleepy driver to me being at 6 am and all

Follow up:
After work yesterday I found the woman's sweater in my car, and I knew I had to find her. I needed to know she was alright. After several calls to the NY State Police system, I was able to get an address from the officer who was on the scene, and I just got back from a nice visit with her, her fiance and his sister.
Well, she and her baby (4 months pregnant) are resting comfortably and there was no injury other than a minor laceration to the foot caused by climbing out of the window over broken glass. That, and some aching muscles and sore neck. Though the cause of the accident is yet undetermined, it has been initially attributed to mechanical failure of the steering system.
At least I can rest tonite, maybe I can stop replaying the accident like a movie clip over and over in my head.
