Least it need be said, whether you have a touring OR a sedan, double check the colors and wire function on your factory mirror harness before getting crazy with the soldering iron.

that being said it is in, wired, and working. :D
I'm pretty sure this one is from an e46, but it works, and it only cost me $3.25 on ebay. I'm happy!

I didn't feel like ordering a connector, pins, etc. nor paying $20 -$25 bucks for the only used 10 pin I could track down (defeats the purpose of getting a $3 mirror doesn't it?), so i just hardwired it.

10 pin Mirror wire colors (see further down for pinout and male side colors ):

Brown : ground

Grey : reverse lead (12+)

Red : ignition 2 (12+)

Purple : ALARM LED -
Orange: ALARM LED +

black, white, yellow, and green : Unused. probably leads for the electrochromatic side mirrors on later BMWs with that feature.

Colors for earlier 3 pin harness on pre 94's (hidden in headliner):

brown: ground
blue with yellow: reverse (12+)
green: ignition 2 (12+)

This post on bf.c ( and the mirror plug pin outs included in it) was very helpful to me so I quoted it over here.

FYI:

1) After some research: There is a 10 pin capacity female connector in the E46 auto-dimming/ LED mirror. See pic. However, there are only 9 pins in the connector of which only 5 are needed to use the auto-dimming/ LED function. (No idea what the other 4 are used for).

Auto Dimming Function

Pin 1- Reverse Lead

Pin 3- Switched 12V

Pin 10- Ground

LED Function

Pin 8- LED Pos

Pin 9- LED Neg

2) If someone cut the E46 wiring harness and provided you the male side of the 10 pin connector, the wire colors associated with the pins are as follows:

Pin 1- Blue/ Yellow

Pin 3- Green/ White

Pin 10- Brown/ Black

Pin 8- Red/ Black

Pin 9- Grey/ Black/ Yellow

3) If you didn't get a hacked up E46 wiring harness: here's what you can buy:

61-13-1-383-570, Qty-1, Male 10 Pin Connector

61-13-1-383-840, Qty-1, Connector Cover

p/n unknown, Qty-1, Connector Cover Lock

61-13-0-005-197, Qty-5, Female Bushing Contact

5 assorted colors of 18 gauge wire

until I get around to getting my aftermarket alarm installed, I hooked up a varad LED flasher board to the oem led. Hell I just wanted to see it flash, ya know? It shuts off when the key is on, and flashes the rest of the time for now. Eventually I will get around to getting my alarm installed (once I convince my BMW alarm specialist "guru" buddy to come help me with it for some $ and all the hebrew nationals he can eat.).

Yes I got rained on this evening... It'll get washed tomorrow.
