Doesn't your warranty pay to fix your car?

I recently bought a 1995 525i. There may be slight differences, but here is my list of specifics in addition to general things like turn signals, lights...

Door panels for separation
Power seat function including the headrests
Gas struts for hood and trunk
Fuel door hinge
Braking from 50-60 mph for steering shimmy
Inspect dog bones
Inspect front suspension boots
Check glove box hinge and function
Ensure that the power locks work properly (that all doors lock/unlock including the trunk)
Check all power windows to ensure thay go up and down smoothly
Check radiator for any signs of leaks

Great that it's a 5 speed but aren't you asking for double trouble?
Get the 540 sorted first before you are tempted to just give it away.
As far as looking at stuff, all the usual E34 weaknesses; cooling system, climate control, suspension bushings. rust in the common places and a check of all the accessories.
All of the body panels from the factory have a VIN tag on them also, a lack of those indicates a crash hard enough to merit replacement and further investigation.
