last 2 days zone alarm is blinking like a heart beat. I cant figure out whats using the net, scanned for spyware, bots and malware...even in safe mode. Nothing happening. How can I check what exactly is using the LAN?

what did you use to scan? Try getting ad-aware and use AVGfree anitvirus.
Zone alarm is paranoid. I hated that program.
I thought ZA told you which app is trying to access the net?

It does tell you once your insise the program, it lets you know when something tries to access the net too but this recently started and as I said is like a heart beat in/out in/out in/out. Nothing new as far as I know installed. I'll try that AVG, used spybot and adaware alond with stinger and roguescanfix. really bugs me, if I didnt have zonealarm it wouldnt bug me lol. None of the other 3 machines are doing this, and all seperatly connected to a router.

TcpView will show you exactly what's diddling your network. Now where's my cookie?

If something else is using your network, you can sometimes see it by doing as administrator- at the command line

netstat -an

It will list all of your outbound and incoming network connections. The problem with this is the controlling port that bots use will be masked because windows is a stupid OS. But the activity that you saw the past 2 days, aka the computers that your were packeting/nuking off the net- you'll be able to see those connections very well. That's one scenario. Another is that if you see nothing at all with netstat, is that zonealarm needs to be upgraded. Maybe a bug within the program itself.

naww zones fine, the only reason I keep the damn thing is to watch traffic, i have all kinds of crap protecting it all. Just when I saw the heartbeat I knew something was up. Still didnt isolate the culprit in zone or in system alerts or logs.. dumb **** and im glad it stopped for now.
