Do vent screw (bleeder screw) go bad? I think I'm leaking coolant from the vent screw even though it is closed tight. :( Or is the vent screw suppose to do that???

Maybe I over tighten it and damaged it. So it shouldn't leak from the vent hole of the screw even though it is closed tight, right?

mine was bad, it's a cheap part to replace.

Yes...mine broke. Had no choice but to pick one up @ local stealer. I almost dropped to my knees when I found out It was less than $20. (Actually around $5). I even kept the reciept 'cause I know no one will believe me.

Be careful. I "lost" the bleed screw on my E34 and had to pick one up that was listed as the correct part number for the car. It screwed in and stopped with the O-Ring, but for whatever reason the threads didn't engage to well and popped out the first time it went to pressurize. The old bleed screw was painfully recovered with a 16" piece of wire with double sidded tape and about an hour of cussing. Screwed that back in, and no leak since......YMMV

Thanks for the info guys. By slightly loosing the screw seemed to stop the leak. Over tightening it actually causes leak. What a flimsy piece! :( I'll pickup another screw at the dealer tomorrow.
