Haha I had my first go in a 518 tourer not so long ago... the idle is sooo reassuring on that engine :P

How's the fuel economy on the 518i?

I remember reading a road test of the E34 518i in a magazine, and they were measuring the 0-60 times using a calender. :)

I've never seen one before, how's it drive?

AFAIK, the economy on the 518i is the same as on 525i, because in the first one the engine is struggling with weight of the car....

quite happy with it as it will still break the legal limits does about 35 to the gallon and only cost me 300 quid which is a lot less than some of astronomical prices quoted on here,a good driver can make a slower car quicker than a shite driver who cant handle a quick car

Don't let em bring ya down brother. I'd drive it for $500, happily. My M50 ain't hot $hit either, but few will make fun of it as its likely the most common powerplant on the board.

Keep a stiff upper lip and enjoy our 'friendly' banter. Have you met Winfred or Jeff yet ? :D

I'd take a later model 518 over my car, just for gas mileage and rarity's sake. Not like it's much slower.

My last car was a 93 518 It had 200,000 miles on the clock and was totally rust free when I crashed it at the begining of 2005. It was a great car, I'd probably still be driving it now if I hadn't.

now got 196,000 on the clock still going strong just the usual water pump replacement and track rods for the mot test but we need a bigger car(tourer)we want to stay with bmw preferably 525i tourer
as for them getting me down no worries,i drive for a living and have seen it all before boy racers, hothatch etc
just give me rear wheel drive and a forest track with loose gravel especially in wales
