Trying to help diagnose a slushbox problem, OI.
Symptoms are:
A little hesitation engaging certain gears.
Reverse works but no motion in D in auto mode.
In manual mode, 1st/2nd werk but 3rd and Drive do nothing.

Came on pretty quick too.

Have you checked that you've got the correct quantity of transmission fluid?

does it drive as it should in 3rd (trans program lockout gear) when you don't try to shift it?

Have you checked that you've got the correct quantity of transmission fluid? That’s kinda the problem, can’t really check the level (properly) w/o a lift, or several jacks and a thermometer. Stupid ‘sealed’ transmissions.
Additional problem is that it’s 20miles from my place, or work, or the owners place.

Ryan, it seems to have 1st/2nd but no 3rd. ‘Limp’ mode would allow at least surface street travel, but the best that it can manage is ~20mph at some pretty high rpms. In the interest of trying to prevent additonal damage (specially on someone else’s car) driving it more will tell us very little I think.

i would think that if it were just an electrical part or non-internals problem that you'd be able to do 40+ mph normally in trans program mode (3d. gear). sounds serious, and that's all i can contribute.
