I have an Elmscan box that lets me hook the laptop to the the OBDII connector on newer cars and see what the EMS and sensors are doing. Is there something similar for our older OBDI cars? I have a 1992 535iM.

Thanks, Shogun. I have the Peake tool for pulling codes. I also ordered the SRS reset tool from Ernst at Zymex to hopefully turn off the SRS light. What I am looking for is a way to tie into the EMS and see sensor data on my laptop. I use Elmscan and scantool software on the newer OBDII cars and getting the EMS data on the laptop screen can help see what is going on. I do not want to get into a new EMS system like Megasquirt. I am just wondering if there is a laptop interface like the Elmscan for OBDI.

There's really not that much info to be gleaned by plugging a laptop into an OBD I car, sadly :(

the old snap on red brick does a decent job on them, no srs before about late 92 though, can probably be had for around 5-600 which should get you up to 01 or so, newer then that you need the newer style programmable cartrages
