Does the sensor throw the error message if the coolant level is too high? Mine was on all the time, and it was a few inches higher than the cold full line when I got it. I bled the system for the heck of it a couple days ago which brought the level down closer to the full mark, and the message is gone.

So my question is:

Does the Check Coolant Level message appear when the coolant is overfull, or did it just start working again because it's the 4th week of April?

The coolant level sensor (in my experience) will only trigger on two occasions:

1) when the coolant level is too low (ie. when it doesn't detect liquid anymore)
and 2) it only does this when you either start or stop your car. Ie. if you lose all your coolant 2 hours in on a 5 hour drive, you won't find out until you stop and turn off your car. IMO this is a shitty design, it should monitor it constantly.

If the design didn't prevent it, I'd say it was upside down. Found out the windshield fluid sensor can be put in upside down, don't ask how I know.
