Now that this is a "5 Series" Forum, I thought I would post about our e39:
Previous owner attempted to use the cheesy drink holders on our 525iA. Some of the syrupy stuff ended up on the heater controls. The buttons would stick when pressed. Kinda frustrating when you tried to turn on/off the A/C or the defroster.
Well, I pulled out that coaster I had with "TIS" written on it. The buttons on the heater controls snap into place and can be removed very easily for cleaning.
I unsnapped them all, cleaned them, Armor-All'd the control panel and it is good as new.
It is amazing the information you can find the the TIS and ETK.
Also noted that the lower engine bay covers on the left and right were cracked due to the P/O's inability to judge the location and height of the front bumper. I went to the stealer and picked up the pair for $28.00. They were easy to replace and actually made the car a little quieter as it eliminated some whistling at speed.
