I get a call this morn, had to struggle to get out of bed, as I can barely walk, my frigging back went out on me the other day, and now more bad news. Wifey's Z3 is leaking radiator fluid and the fan is spinning, more like wobbling, and hitting the engine/radiator! She's at work in Vernon Hills, IL.

I hate sending my car to dealerships, I'd much rather do everything on the car myself. That's actually why between 3 drivers, we have 4 cars (all Bimmers). But I guess under the circumstances, off to Knauz BMW it goes (hopefully a flatbed).

Come on drugs, kick in, pain go away now!

I ended up replacing the radiator, fan clutch and the fan blades. Luckily the 9 fan blades that ejected off the annular fan ring did not damage the hood.

Just a thought: Are there any bimmer.info members in the area that can lend Bimmer Nut Ed a hand to get his wife's car back on the road and to save him from the dealer?

Ed, If I were in the area, I'd do the work for you, to thank you for this forum and all of the hard work. Wonder what the tow bill would be to tow it to Wilmington, NC and back!! :P

Thanks for the offer. Tow bill would be outragious, especially since the crappy AAA Club card only has a 5 mile towing allowance. Got to change that.

Anyway, it's already at the dealer. So I'm getting ready to bend over!

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, could I have gotten it home, it would probably have been a pretty easy job for me. But my back happens to be out too, so I can barely walk at this point!

Try calling North Pointe Motors in Skokie for an alternate estimate 847-470-9393. Ask for Tim or Jeff. They are BMW specialists.
