Hi,
I have a 1994 540ia and it will not give me any reading when I do the stomp test. I know how to do it after having owned an E32, but I also read that if the phone is disconnected it won't work.
I know probably none of you even use the phone or even have it installed still, so what can the problem be?
Thanx
Fred/Houston

Once you turn on the key to position II, you have to hit the acc paddle 5 times very quickly. The key is to start to first hit as soon as the lights on the dash come on.

I do this all the time. It should not be related to the phone.

Ok, I'll get more persistant with it and see if I have any luck.
Thanks

When I did it I followed all the instructions on the boards and couldn't get it to work. What finally worked was I turned the key to position 2, waited for the seatbelt sign to time out on the dash and then pumped the accelerator 10 times. Worked perfect every time. IIRC.

Sorry but I don't know what cel is? I tried again last night in postion 2 and still no luck. I will wait for the seatbelt warning to turn off tonight and try again.
Thanks

Dang! I don't remember ever seeing a check engine light? I'll check tonight and probably be moaning for cures in the morning.
Thanks
