Hi guys,

this one's probably going to be hard to answer but here goes:
I don't have airco and I want it. How do I go about this and most of all what's the price range from el cheapo do it yourself to having a professional do it?

I'm not looking for anything dramatic, just a single button system. No climatronic thingamajiggies or anything complicated. I'm mostly worried about:
- Engine management (idle)
- accessability (dashboard and ducts)

TIA

u will have to retrofit the compressor at first and then route all the plubming from the compressor through the firewall and into the evaporator in the dash. not to mention you till have to install your condensor in fornt of the radiator.

personally if it were me id sweat it out or look for a new car.

As you live in Belgium: there are not so many E34 with aircon compared to the US.
WAECO supplies DIAVIA aircons for later installations, visit their homepage

and here on the VW Polo Forum you can read that it costs for that car about 2.000 EURO.

Probably plus labor cost.

for all the A/c related stuff to do it right.

And plan to do a lot of work swapping out the dash wire harness and all the stuff on, in & under the dash.

you'll need lots of O rings, and a/c tools to fit the lines and evac and recharge the system.

Yeah I was thinking about going the 'parts car' route anyway because they canbe found for a bargain. If I want to keep costs to a minimum I'll have to sweat it out this summer and wait till next cause there's more urgent things. thanks for the brief but insightful comments. They're just what I needed.
