A friend of mine who is a pro detailer (Damian from Final Inspection) and I set about doing a complete detail on my car on Good Friday. I prepped the car on Thursday night for 3 hours, gave it a wash and then clayed it. Washed the wheels and glass while I was at it

Damian got to my place at 9am on Good Friday, and we finished up at around 8pm that night. I then spent another 2 hours on Sunday morning before going to the BMW Car Club Show and Shine on Sunday.

At this point, the car has just been polished, albeit extensively and by a pro, and then had a single coat of Swissol Mystery wax applied. Tomorrow, i'll apply some Zaino Z-CS over the top to lock that shine in.

Here are a few pics:

Jesus! This has got to be the cleanest I've ever seen an E34. It's shining more than it did coming off of the factory floor!

That's amazing. I admire your patience. I get bored after applying just one coat of regular wax, and only do that once or twice a year. :)

I could be out there all day on my car, I love it - it all pays off.

You know what my first thought is when I'm finished is?
Hmmmm I could have done this... or I'll do it next time.

So I just do it all! :D
We're a rare breed I guess, we're psycho crazy about our clean cars, and other people tell us that.

Anyways - what is on your door handles, what's on your side black trim, and lastly your tires.

*EDIT* WHOW WHOW WHOW, Whats with this E32? Look at his lights, they're enclosed!

Hi Charles,

Yeah, it doesn't me long after i'm finished before I start thinking "I should have done this", or something like that. :)

For the door handles, I just polish and wax them when I do the the paintwork, I don't use anything different for them. Same thing for the painted trim pieces around the side windows.

I use Meguiars Vinyl and Rubber protectant on the side trims, and on the rubbers aound the windows, and I use Meguiars NXT Insane Tyre Shine on the tyres. I like this stuff because it's so wasy to use, you just spray it on and that's it, takes about 5 seconds per tyre. If you prefer a less shiny appearance, then wipe it down with a soft rag after about 5 or 10 mins.

Personally I'm not very happy with the NXT products, I'd much rather put on meguairs 21 synth seal over my paint prep polish and then put a high quality wax on top of that. Where did you find this swissol? I wonder if I can buy it online... I've been using duponts wax - of all my utility waxes it lasts the longest and keeps the POs clearcoat damage completely hidden, it's wonderful stuff! Haveb't tried the new formula, I should give it a shot.

I've been using 303AERO on the plastic/rubber, and dupont teflon protectant on the tires during the winter.

I am not a fan of absolutely mirrorlike-tires, but theres this sweet smelling thick gel crap that they use at the lexus dealership here that doesn't stay on for long if you drive with it, but it's great for shows - it is just shiny and wet as heck.
