Will an e36 M50 and manual gearbox go into an e34?

How about an e28?

Obviously the wiring, ECU and tailshaft would need to come from a 525. I guess I'd need a shorter diff too.

Does anyone know... ? :) Nick

the engine will need the front sump oil pan, make sure you can get the correct size and spline coupler to bolt to the driveshaft, some of those trannys have a different size tailshaft. e28? may need some fabrication on the motor mounts and other things

I'd like an M50 manual in either if I can find one, but maybe a manual for either or both M30s is more really the go.

Unless I can find an M50 powered manual E30 somewhere... hmmm, that'd mean I'd have to get rid of one of the others.... <No way!> awww this is tooo damn hard! I love my e34 and I am passionate about the e28, but hell there's too much work in her... (but she flies!!)... I was thinking of putting the running gear from the e28 (plus a Megasquirt) into a mechanically bad e30- but there's a lot of work in that too...

Perhaps I should get a job in a breakers yard until I can work this out... :D

why not an s50?Well I guess for that matter an M88. It depends what I can find... its easier when you have one shell to work on, not 2 or worse, considering 3...

I am in the process of installing an S52 into my E34 Touring, as well as converting to a manual trans with a 3.64 posi. I'll let you know how it goes....

the reason i suggest an s50 is because from what I can gather, it is exactly the same as installing an m50. So why not grab the extra hp.
