View Full Version : Blowout prompts arse into gear to fit e39 alloys but...

Well I had a blow out yesterday and this has prompted me to fit the set of Style 5s (pre-refurb) that have been sitting in my garage for the last 6 months. I have searched and found loads of threads on this subject but there are a number of opinions!

Really I need to know one thing, what size hubcentric (or spigot) rings do I need to get them to fit? I test fitted a wheel (without any rings) on the front this morning and although there was some clearance it looked like any suspension travel would send the tyre crashing into the rubber boot a the top of the suspension (technical term obviously). So I called a guy who said 'bring the car down and we'll have a look'.

When I got there he had a set of generic rings with a 5mm thickness and basically guessed that they would fit. Before I buy them I want to know that what I am buying is correct and will not rub or damage anything.

The rings he had were solid with bolt holes but I have seen pics of others which are literally just rings. Whats the difference and which ones are best (ok, 2 questions)? Will I need new bolts (I have 18s at the moment with a ET20 offset), thanks!!

For e39 wheels I believe you need 74mm to 72.5mm rings. The tirerack part number is A670. I don't believe you need spacers but I could be wrong.

u dont need spacers but they are rings that go on the hub and give the wheel a better fit.

have a look on ebay, plenty of sigot rings there
