so i was waiting on the stop light today. then, suddenly this spanking new ford mustang pulled beside me with "dub" wheels and a big 'ol "dub" sticker in his rear window, and a super loud exhaust. i looked over and there were two twenty something guys looking cool, of course, their car had the loudest exhaust in the stoplight. when the light turned green, the mustang pulled away fast and i saw the plate it shows LALO GT. "hmmm that should be LOLA GT", i said to myself. i just laughed until my tears came out, and just hope they don't encounter old school race enthusiasts to tell them that their vanity plate have a typo. that would be so embarassing.

Vanity plates are lame, even though I've had them.

You can't make fun (or make yourself look like an ass) of a random group of numbers and letters,

i like my plate... just one, all numbers. attention is thereby attracted to the car itself, not to a piece of state-issued jewelry

Private/Vanity plates i can live with, it's the loud exhausts I can't cope with. It's always 1 litre Citroen Saxo's and Vauxhall Corsa's with stupid stickers in the windows and on the front wings and really, really oversized exhaust backboxes. There should be a law defining the maximum size of the pipe as ratio of its engine capacity. No more than 1" pipe diameter per litre should do it.

was the car lowered? Because I read it as "lay-low GT"....I don't see why anyone would put Lola on a mustang's plate.....

though im not entitled to comment about such thing anymore, that's pretty fruity. perhaps he can draw a little "fiddle" symbol next to it, but that would make it something else i guess.

Lalo is a Spanish name. Not terribly uncommon, either.

I have an '82 Fiat 2000 Spider and am considering "82 RAGNO" which is spider in italian, but I'm still trying to decide if thats a bit much. Any thoughts? Maybe just 1982 if it's available.

Reminds me of someone in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne (Brunswick for the locals) that had a brilliant yellow Alfa Romeo Spider. His plates were also quite clever, at least for me: APAXNH

That says "spider" in Greek in Greek lettering, which is different from Latin, which just adds another huge cleverness factor in my books, since anyone who understands a little bit of Greek would get it, and those who don't would think it's some sort of random grouping of letters.

For those who aren't sure, it's pronounced "arachni". (say 'ch' as a German would say it).

A friend of mine works at Apple and has "iTruck" on his old ford pickup, but this is all kind of off topic.

I didn't either, thought it was a cab company, but after I asked the owner; ACAB = All cops are bastards and the cops they get it even Swedish cops how should have a harder time knowing that it means this then people how have English as there first language.

Stephan

Ps; The owner payed 6000SKR = $800+ for the plates.

Although technically, putting the pedal down, you'd also be doing DADT (and then some...resolution of the power curve probably stops at about a 5th or 6th order function)

Cheers,
