E31, E32, E34 and E38 vehicles with M60 engines produced before January 1995 (automatic transmission).
Complaint: The check engine light illuminates when going downhill, which has set FC 201/203

Remedy: Replace the EPROM and reprogram it using V6.0 software or higher, once the EPROM has been reprogrammed it will need at least 10-20 minutes to re-adapt under a variety of load conditions.

basically the DME puts the car into fuel cutoff, but forgets that its not supposed to throw an O2 lean code. happens when coasting down hill or when decellerating of throttle at highway speeds, usually when trans lockup is engaged.

if the engine idles properly and has good power, you can just ignore it. the fault code is not stored (on mine anyway)
