If those are in sequence, it looks like the classic rookie error. Enter the corner too hot...run out of track at the exit. Rather than straightening the wheel and riding it out across the grass, you suddenly jerk the wheel towards the inside. After a moment, the front tires suddenly bite, launching you laterally across the track and into the guardrail on the other side (and any other cars that happen to be in the way). Look at the skid-marks coming out of the esses at LCMT. Lots of cars get collected that way.

Sounds like exactly what I did at my second track event, went in too hot at VIR, dropped two wheels off, spun, and thought I had it back :( I didnt, bam inner wall... at least I got it down from 100+

Ouch! At least the occupants in the M3 CSL are okay… I guess you can get carried away showing off front of a lady…

I thought I heard this wasn't a true CSL?

No, this is true CSL... If you take a close look at the roof, it is carbon-fiber roof. I don't think anyone wll go through the trouble to convert aluminum panel with carbon-fiber panel...

The track looks damp and the CSL's tires are for dry weather only. When you buy the car you have to sign awaiver saying you acknowledge that the tires won't work in the wet or in the cold. Not to mention judging by the skidmarks he ran out of talent.

Having money doesn't guarantee you driving skill... If the owner was convinced that owning a car like that gives them Schumacher abilities well F... them.

You're correct, I misread something.

This is the most true statement...

Looking at the first photo, it's pretty clear that if he had just straightened out the wheel, he could probably have cut straight over the turtles and been just fine. He must have panicked when he saw the grass (inexperienced drivers will freak out at the thought of an off).

This is what separates an experienced track driver from someone who just puts in quick lap times and thinks they're fast. This is why we require our Advanced students to show us they can drive off-line and off-track without losing their cool.
