Front Foglights

Hey Guys, I've got an 89 520i and the front fog lights ain't working, so got under the car and looked behind the foglights to see if the white connector going into the foglights was maybe loose, so i looked at the passenger side foglight and everything seems to be ok, no loose or broken wires and the white connector is in good order, so i moved over to the driver side foglight and one of the wires going into the white connector has broke off and is hanging loose, also the backup lights don't come on when you put the car into reverse gear, Would the broken wire at the driver side foglight cause both front foglights not to work ? as well as the backup lights ?
