Guys--I need ideas. What have you done there that is fun?

I think I remember someone posting about a race track off the strip. I also seem to remember one of my friends telling me about some deal where you can squirt unsuspecting people with water while they are on a ride at the MGM. Just can't remember the details or even who told me about it.

I know--what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...blah, blah, blah. But come on. Fork over your good stories for a fellow bimmer driver in need of inspiration.

I go to Vegas for the shows....since generally places don't let me gamble and drink (im underage for 6 more months!). I havent most of the new ones...but I did see KA by Cirque Du Soleil about 3 months ago... I didnt like it for the $150 entrance fee. Look for venders that sell tickets just before a show, they are dirt cheap...but slim pickings.

The girls are always fun down there. :)

Uhh. If you were there this weekend, I'd go see the All Star Game, if you can even get tickets. The shooting ranges are fun, because NV gets full auto vs. Cali and its semi-auto law.

Car wise, I have no clue. They have a small exhibition of exotic cars inside ceasars palace(inside one of the stores).

When are you going anyways? I'll be there the week after bimmerfest! Gonna be watching a Celine Dion concert of all things. haha. This is her last year on contract, and the mom's really wants to see her.

I thought Vegas was all about casinos and hookers?

The lunchtime smorg at Bally's used to be some of the best eats in town -- maybe it still is, if it hasn't changed in the fifteen years or so since I was last there. Most of the other casino brunch buffets and the like were nigh unto toxic, 'specially the really cheap ones.

Wynn hotel has a Ferrari exhibition. $15 per person. I didn't go. "O" and Blue man shows are really good. Buffets are getting more expensive. They were around $15 a few years ago. Now they are averaging $25.

Avoid Alladin. Their service and dealers sxxk.

Haven't tried the hookers yet. Some feedbacks will be nice.

Gayle,

If you're in to hiking, see if you can find your way to the natural hot springs, south of Boulder City, a couple of miles before the dam. It's about a 90 minute hike through the canyons, ending at a dammed up pool. At least it was there 20+ years ago when I lived there. Another hour past that and you end up at the Colorado River. It is quite a site. There may be organized hikes down there now, but back in the day, you just drove your car down a hill, parked, and started walking. Someone was kind enough to spray paint directions on the rocks and tie ropes up so you could get down or up the path.

Perhaps check out "Love", the Beatles tribute by Cirque de Soleil. If it is half as good as the soundtrack CD, it will be fantastic, but difficult to get in.

There used to be an antique car museum at the Imperial Palace. There is a car rental outfit on the strip where you can rent exotics. Drive out to Red Rock Canyon for some nice twisties, if it's not too overbuilt now.

Since I am a chick, I don't think I will be trying them either....Last time I was there for a meeting, I notice a new thing. Guys on the sidewalk handing out cards about like baseball cards that are advertising for the hookers. What will they think of next?

But just because I am a chick, don't start telling me stuff like get your nails done at x spa. I am seeking input about what is fun from the male perspective so the hookers are noted.

The Imperial Palace has an incredible car collection. http://www.imperialpalace.com/autos.php The collection is located on the fifth level of the self-parking facility. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

I've rented an s2000 honda & gone out to the Hoover Dam. Not so fun on the highway; great fun on the backroads.

The Hoover Dam is quite close, and worth seeing. There is also a cool canyon to the north that has some interesting hikes. Be sure to eat at the restaurants in the casinos, they are usually very good and reasonably priced.

I saw a really nice clean e34 when i was there last year, so you might get lucky too!

Nice collection there, sorely lacking in Bimmers though. There are freebie tickets for it floating around too. If you have time I could send you some.
The fountains at Belagio are amazing! There is a cafe that has seating outdoors right at the edge of the pool they are in.
Belagio also has the best margarita I've had, should you be so inclined.
There is also a LV history museum that is very interesting and just outside town.
Ethel M chocolate factory is also worth a visit to see the gardens there.
Hoover dam 30 miles out of town also.
As a non gambler this is what I did there.

1. Visit Hoover Dam, unless Homeland Security has shrink wrapped the whole place
2. Leave. Quickly. Before your soul is sucked out through your eyeballs.

There's some driving thing either attached to the Sahara or right next to it. Supposed to be fun.

The hooker baseball card guys have been there forever... maybe you never noticed them?

Go to the Imperial Palace and trek out to the back for the car exhibit. They're passing out free tickets all the time, maybe ask someone at the casino where you could find one, they should know.

Fremont Street can be fun, but it's not as "nice" as the strip (altho all of Vegas is a polished turd... but that's another story). Are you going alone, a couple girls, girls/guys, ??

You still have my cell #? Call me today, I'll have some free time later. Wait a minute... how are you going to Vegas during tax season???

but I did see KA by Cirque Du Soleil about 3 months ago...

My girlfriend and I are heading there in April for her sister's wedding. We already have tickets to KA and am excited to see it. What was your opinion?

how are you going to Vegas during tax season???

No doubt! It's going to take me 2 months and an extension to pay mine :). Luckily the girlfriend is picking up the tab for this trip.

Maybe I never noticed. There was about a 5 year stretch I didn't go and then I went 3 times in one year.

I am throwing a party there at a later date, but probably not later enough for you to be able to come.

And I don't do taxes. I chase hidden assets and play which one of you litigants gets to keep the money. I can hardly make myself do my own taxes. Learning how to file an extension was the worst move I have ever made in my life. It is the only thing I procrastinate on....Oct 14 last year. Even though I can gloat over it not being tax season for me, I am going to work this Sunday am.

I had them actually offered to me about 10 times when i was there last year, and i was 17. Not to mention the ones stuck in the bushes every 5 feet. This was on the las vegas strip too, not some scummy side street...not that the strip isnt scummy either lol.

Hookers

As long as we are on the topic of hookers, someone educate me. How does the whole deal work? Are the guys with the cards their pimps, or just minimum wage flunkies. Do all hookers have pimps? Are they mostly solo practitioners or employees of a stable? Do they have answering services and people who book appointments for them? Do they take credit cards? Is there a tipping etiquette? Is it like when you go to a spa, and there is a menu of services? Is it like the nail salon where you pay before the service is finished so you don't mess up your nails?

When I went to see the transvestites in Beunos Aires, the cab driver said they have websites. (They have a park all to themselves and open for business at 10 and 50-100 pesos is the going rate ($17-34). Before you get the wrong idea, I had my husband and a camera with me. Do Vegas hookers have websites?

Are the hookers in Vegas more attractive than hookers other places? Do they have a union? Do they have health cards? Is prostitution legal in Nevada. Aren't there active brothels in old mining towns there?

Can you tell the hookers from the tourists in Vegas? Everyone seems to go out of their way to look slutty when they go there.

When guys have bachelor parties, do they hire exotic dancers or hookers or are they the same thing? How does that whole bachelor party thing work?

Once again, I am totally clueless. These are things that girls just don't know. Inquiring minds just want to know, so all information/education is appreciated. I totally understand that any information that you share with me, you heard from a friend or on the Discover channel.

You know Alex, I bet they don't enforce age minimums like the casinos do.

Stay at the hard rock, eat some boomers and go to the luxor all wasted in one of the purple hard rock suburbans, walk around that trippy pyramid, go on one of their astral ride theatre deals, catch a Prince show, and end up on the strip.....or go to the horseshoe lounge and smoke a 1000 cigarettes at the $5 blackjack table

hit up the concierge for entertainment ideas, and try not to gamble.

Now this is a good idea Gayle.

My Dad is taking my 17 year old Daughter and I to the States in April. We are going to San Fransisco For 6 days and then on to Las Vegas for 4.

I was wondering what the locals in these areas would suggest some English tourists do while there.

I'll private message you with details of things to do in San Fran. Or better yet, do you have skype? If so, let's talk.

The party I am throwing in Vegas is March 31 and April 1. You are invited.:)

I was in Vegas last week for a meeting. This may sound lame for a 49 year old....the amusement ride that shoots you straight up from the roof of the Stratosphere is absolutely heart stopping. Have a few beverages in the upper lounge first. I was in Disney World for the last 4 days and don't think anything compared as far as scary rides. The indoor garden at Bellagio is very impressive (celebrates the "year of the pig"). I saw Mel Brooks there last week just mingling with the crowd.

Well that really is very kind of you, unfortunately we don't get to Vegas until the 11th.

I don't have skype yet so a pm of things to do in SF would be great.

Thanks
