When oil foams from over-filling the engine, what does it look like?

Smell like?

Beyond draining and refilling to the correct level and installing a new oil filter, what is the proper way to deal with foamed oil?

Foamed oil is nothing more than oil with air/gas (an immulsion). If you drain the oil immediately after running the engine, you'll probably notice that it contains a lot of air bubbles. Changing the oil and filter should be no different than normal. Your oil pressure light might take longer to go out though if air made its way through the system.

a froth on some motors and your oil pressure drops dramatically, Hydraulic valve adjusters start tapping and the bearings starve for oil... not a good state of things. The Correct way to deal with it ,is to let it sit overnight so the air will separate ,then drain out the amount overfilled.
