Doh,

Just bought a manual 92 525i in a Champagne colour the car has a few faults which I will post another time, but the bodywork is near mint. Anyway popped some petrol in when I bought the car and have now just went to top up.

Don't know if I was heavy handed or if it was a bit stiff but the flap which covers the petrol cap is now in my hands.

The wife is laughing at me and I am as gutted when we lost to Portugal in the world cup.

Does anyone know if these flaps can be bought from a dealer or am I doomed.

Please help anyone:(

Did the flap break, or did the hinge? I think you can buy the hinge seperately if that's what's broken (which is usually the case)

it's a $14.00 item that just clips in/on and reuse the C shaped spring.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, the flap is ok, the hinge is broken. Part of the plastic is still attacked to the car with the remainder on the petrol flap along with the metal ring.

Hope I can source this from a dealer

$14.25 at BMA. Took me about 15 minute to fix mine. Good luck!

Yup just did this in my parents e32. Easy fix, took me a minute to figure out which way the hinge went on, the door first or the car. Anyway, cheap ez fix.
