I looked at a pristine 740iL today. The owner, a BMW enthusiast had it up for sale in my development. It has 84,000 miles and every extra imaginable inlcuding navigation, self-leveling, and many other options including MP3, cassette, and multi-disk cd. Also it is blue tooth ready. It has not a mark on it and has been garage kept and hand washed, synthetic oil used. The guy that owns it is in his 40s and drives it 120 miles a day. When he purchase it 3 years ago it had 30,000 miles so the long commute has racked up most of the highway miles.

I have been considering a 740i for a while but this looks like a really good deal. What problems can be expected of this car as it ages. The owner wants $21,000 which is right in line with the Kelley Blue Book for a private sale. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Oh, I did drive the car and it felt like brand new.

Dad has an '01 740iL Sport he bought almost two years ago with 24k then. Now he's got around 42k miles, completely trouble-free. His is TiAg/Black leather, very nice combo, and killer with the OE M-Pars.

He does wish he got the 740i instead of the iL. His reasoning of getting the iL was transporting clients, but it's a boat. The 740i has Steptronic, no EDC, and has a different diff. ratio. It also has a sport wheel, but Dad got a new MTech wheel (GREAT upgrade!).

Find an Imola 740i.
