Considering the fact that the 850i is the 12-cylinder beast (m70?), I'd expect that the transmission will not mate up to an m60 engine. PM Shogun as he is the 12-cylinder guru around here.

If you find one, you can sell it to me. They are rare and very expensive.
Check on realoem for the European E32 740i, that came also witha 6-speed.
Find out the p/n and the Getrag gear type and compare then with a E31 850 on realoem.
