I've been looking at some of the shots you guys have been using as sig pics and thought you'd would have some really great snow photos.

We don't get this sought of extremes in weather (except Nick.Hay) over in the land of OZ.

cheers,
Greg

Here's my previous car, ice racing on the Lachine Canal - 2 days after I had imported it to Montreal from Boston.

Mine hasn't seen too much snow yet, but here's a tiny bit right before I drove her back to college:

Don't know if this defined as a "really great snow photo"... it's not exactly pretty :D

this was actually a year ago... it didn't take more than that one snow for me to decide summer wheels and tires were a no go for this weather :)

This raises another question.
Has anyone got a shot of snow tyres? What's the difference?

Studded snow tire. Legal in some states/provinces.

Snow chains. Always fun to wrap around a tire when you're already stuck ;) I always thought I could 'climb that hill' without em though...... Uh uh.

snow tires have a more aggressive tread pattern and are made of a rubber that freezes at a much lower temperature than all seasons or summer tires.

OK so we don't get snow (at least, not much) down under in Oz, but the original request was for winter pics, so here are mine. The resolution is pretty crummy, I just grabbed these from my blog. Taken in a very foggy night some time in June '06. Car still had the OE blinkers on.

Here is what we drove through New Years Day in Upper Michigan:

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7559/newyearsdaystormup4sb.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

It was a beautiful day after normally <7-hour drive turned to a >12-hour drive through the storm the previous day and night.

Edit: This shows an unusually low snow accumulation this year, the banks are normally higher where this was taken.

Was not driving the e34 at the time, but have driven it in similar conditions with Dunlop SP A2 Sport tires, which can be quite entertaining at low speeds and rather interesting at higher speeds.
Our 93 Dodge Intrepid with all-season tires was the victim on that trip.

I used to go there a few years ago, very cool to watch them race.

My Jetta VR6 track modded beast was my car then and it always had a hard time going from land to ice because it was so low.

I should take my Xi out there for a rip!

The best pics I have seen yet are Bill R's cactus/snow pics. Crazy.

lol! Regardless of how dark it is, ever, your car will look like a shadow driving down the road with the light beams visible.
It's just how it is with your car.

it is a pretty extreme angle of attack, especially for lowered cars - I put a dent in a floor panel there one year when some ice got under my car entering the canal. You should come by this year definitely, ice should be thick enough come february :)

Got a little stuck when I was backing up and high sided on the snow bank but that car with trac control is pretty good in the snow for RWD. Although I put it in park on a steep hill with the ebrake off, and it started sliding backwards, had to run back to it and put my foot on the brake...

But his car will be jealous of her sexy narrow grilled older sister taking the spotlight.
