oil filter change

hey guys,

about to give my 89 520i a oil and filter change and its my first oil and filter change i've ever done on a car, just wondering before i start what way does the oil filter turn to losen off, from looking from the front of the vehicle does it turn clockwise or anti clockwise to loosen off?

Anti-clockwise to loosen the cover of the oil filter, clockwise to tighten the cover - it's like a normal bolt.
