Congrats on the heater core. :) Can we have your car info please? That will help to generate more helpful input. If you are in a hurry, plug your last 6 VIN digits in at www.realoem.com and browse over to the engine block section. Look for a drain plug listing in the parts list. HTH

I have also checked realoem.com and must be missing something. All I see for any descriptions is "bolt" or "screw" or "plug". Nothing too descriptive.

Sorry I don't know where it is on an M50. Can you enlighten us? On an M20 it's a 17mm bolt under the exhaust manifold. You can easily get at it with a ratchet.

Cheers,

Shaun M

sounds like the same place except that you need shortened spanners to get to it on an m50.

The plug / bolt was towards the rear of the engine by where the #6 cylinder would be. It is pretty obvious because it is all by itself. I believe it is 19mm or 3/4.

On a side note, bleeding the coolant was a piece of cake compared to tackling the damned heater core. :D
