One tool that I found comes in handy for this job is either a heat gun or hair dryer. I just finished changing these & found that the front door clips did not want to slide back with the new gaskets on. After struggling with it for awhile I tried heating the handle to get the rubber to compress abit. I found that warming them up until they are just hot to the touch did the trick & the clip would then slide back fully. The clip on the back door slid back without heating the cover but the handle was making contact with the cover & sticking. After heating the cover the rubber compressed & the cover sat low enough that the handle no longer hit it.

That is funny. A guy in Japan sends me this email:
Dear Mr.Erich XXXXX,

Hello, I got your e-mail from Keneth
who sells BMW parts.
I need one set of E32 E34 E36 Door
Rubber gaskets for 4 door car.

Could you tell me the price and
availability.
I am located in Sapporo.

Many thanks in advance,

I thought everyone in Japan knows that I am the door gasket authority ;)

Harry, if you read this , you are invited to the E32 club, I know it is more than 1000 km away. but maybe you have a chance to join a meeting.

I read everyone say Wire Coat hangers won't work....

They did for me.Just bent the end maybe a half inch at more than 90 degrees actually ended up on some doors banding the end all the way back making a "U" and it was in fact strong enough to pull the slider back in place. Not optimal and the Alan tool/vice grip looks like it;d be better as it did take a few tries but it was sufficient if you're ever stranded somewhere without them and have an uncontrollable urge to change your door handle gaskets.
