Same problem, both mirrors:

- up/down tilt works fine

- move button to rotate in and mirror rotates out

- move button to rotate out -- nothing.

Where do I start?

- mirror motion switch
- mirror motor(s)
- fuse
- general module
- memory seat module
- wiring (break in harness @ doorjam)

a good way to check for mirror autism is if you look directly at it, yet it won't reflect your eyes.

Don, @ the memory module. Disconnect it, then reconnect it. See if you have restored functionality, if only for a few seconds.

Beyond that, assuming this is in the E32, check the door jamb wiring -- the E32 wiring holder is a bit more elaborate than the E34 one, but the wires can still crimp. Unlikely, but.

One set of three (? may be two in this case -- not clear in my mind at the moment) wires off of the driver's switch communicates with the memory control module, which then dictates what the mirrors will do.

seen that before but was never paid to fix it, even seen a few that the seat was completely backward in operation, ain't had to chase that one down either
