Finally got the right clutch yesterday and put it in today. Can't thank Multiplex enough for letting me use his space! To review this clutch setup, I'd say its definitely streetable, though maybe not for someone who likes a real stock driving car. First gear can be a little jerky depending on where you grab the clutch - theres not much room in the travel for slipping it, but I can foresee it being easy to slip from up high in the RPM. The grab from gear to gear is much more positive and connected - no more kind of "clunking" around. Not sure if this is important to anyone, but I am a fan of rev-matching downshifts and there is less forgiveness in the clutch for rev matching. What I mean is that if you are clutch-in and blipping about to let the clutch out, if your revs aren't pretty close to where they should catch the lower gear, you'll know. With a stock more slippy clutch it can be somewhat forgiving but definitely not any more.

The pedal weight is not too hard really - Multiplex (Jay) drove it RIGHT as I backed it out and agreed it was pretty average in heaviness... however after doing about 60 miles on it it did get only slightly heavier, though that may just be because I was pushing it down so much on the way home and my leg was saying F* you. Would I want to drive it in bumper to bumper traffic? Maybe. Every day of the week? Not so much.

It held all the way in 5th gear as I accelerated without doign "go to jail" speeds. Very happy with that.

Now for the silly pics - I like making stupid faces, so here they are -

Seems there's a number of former dub-heads in the new e30/e34 BMW world..
I'm one too..

My old (new) dub:

and my old (old) dub:

I actually had the MkIV first (1.8T, chipped, exhaust, dump tube, H&R/Bilsteins, TT 17s) and then moved to the A2 (8v stock, single round badgeless grill, and dropped 60/40 on weitecs - bought it like that) and ended up selling it when I inheriting a car that shall remain nameless because I nearly lost my soul because of it (i.e. it wasn't anything to brag about ,but it was nearly new and free). I finally came to my senses and ditched it for the E34...

Thats great news that it doesent begin to slip Jon. Does that clutch not require some type of break-in steps ? All of the performance clutches from my past did. But then...I only used one custom built ceramic disc version....and it seems IIRC, that it was bolt and go.
I might also mention....those bad boys will munch a flywheel surface quickly. So pick your battles/races carefully or you'll be changing the flywheel in record time.
Props for the greasy grin :p

I have heard that the ceramic discs don't require break-in, but I have been nice to it so far. Nice as in no hardcor shifting/engagement, but thats not to say I haven't spun 3rd gear :) Once its engaged it'll hold until it slips with power, which won't be an issue I don't believe. Seems all good so far - I am getting my new Tial o-ring for my blow off valve today since mine failed to come with one which will eleviate the slight boost like I am experiencing. Car is getting faster and faster and I am loving it.
