Hey Everyone,

I found my coolant leak Saturday morning when I lifted the hood and saw the upper radiator hose peeing. I imagine that I must have cut the hose when I reinstalled the hose clamp eventually leading to a nice little hole.

I patched the hose with duct-tape and drove it home with no problems. I'm picking up the hose tomorrow and just wanted to ask a question.

Realizing that I'm going to make a mess either way, I was wondering if it's alright to pop the hose off the radiator and t-stat housing without draining the radiator? I really just don't feel like doing that to replace this hose and figured with the engine stone-cold there wouldn't be too much coolant in the hose when I changed it. I will bleed the system either way, I'm just hoping to save some time and coolant cost. :)

Whadya think?

I've done that. Put a pan under the car to catch the sploosh.

you should be fine, i usually squeeze the hose to check for any pressure.

be careful not to overtighten the hose clamps or you may break the radiator mount
