I finally got around to cleaning the throttle body/stepper motor assembly using the procedure posted on the web. Wish I had done it sooner. Car idles nice and smooth now. The motor housing was full of carbon dust and just needed to be blasted with electronics cleaner. If you got one of these fly-by-wire cars with a few miles on it, I strongly recommend giving this a try. I'll probably make it part of long-term maintenance.
