I think the return line (?) is leaking on my car, I just got back from a big 2000km trip and found the top of it where it connects to the reservoir covered in fluid, plus there was only half as much fluid left in the tank! I think it's number 8 here:

I searched for this but couldnt find an answer: when I remove the clamps and the hose, what do I do with the PS fluid? Do I just let it drain out and then replace? Do I need to bleed anything?

Oh yeah, and Happy New Year! ;)

If you have the crimp clamp, then cut it off and replace it with a hose clamp.

The power steering system will bleed itself when you run the car and turn the wheel from full left to right a few times, and top off the reservoir.

there is a drain plug on the bottom of the pump to remove most of the fluid, start the car after it drains and turn the wheel back and forth to get more out and replace with fresh juice.

I need to do this repair as well. I ordered the hose from autohausaz.com as recommended by another board member. I think it comes in 1m lengths.

Be careful, there are high pressure sections and low pressure sections.
A crimped hose cannot be replaced by a pressure hose with clamps.
The clamp will fly off for sure.
These hose are designed for pressures exceeding 100 bar!
Last year I have done them all and cut of one to see how it is crimped

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad I don't have to bleed it. It seems like the fluid is coming up around the edge of the hose, as if the clamp isn't tight enough. I tightened it a bit more and sprayed some brake cleaner around there to see the exact point of the leak when I drive it again, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to replace the whole hose and clamps and everything. It definitely looks like the low pressure one, it's the smaller of the two. Local dealer wants $74 CAD for it! I will check autohausaz as well, BMA only wants $15 but its a brand I've never heard of (Cohline)...

Cohline is o.k., that is actually also the one you will get from Autohausaz.
It is a German maker and the hoses I replaced were also from Cohline and from Continental.
Cohline manufactures fluid, brake and steering systems for BMW and Ford among others.
