Cooling system flush question

I am in the process of doing my t-stat and water pump. Instead of removing the block plug, can I just flush the block from the T-stat out the water pump hole (and drain the block by removing the waterpump).

yes. Just make sure you just let the water flow through it, don't pressurize it.
