Finally got the Porter Cable from Brandon and went to town...most of the swirls and scratches came out but some are embedded. Happy New Years to all...GO Bears!

that looks really nice, they look so good when they've just been polished don't they, i did mine last week, then the next day a bird **** all over the bonnet

Saweet Ross! She's lookin' good. Did you get your gas tank exploded yet?
It's perfect buffing weather, 50's and enough humidity keep the chemicals from flashing off before they get a chance to melt the paint...
Keep 'er in the garage tonight for sure. Have a happy new year and say hey to Brandon for me.

Beautiful job and car man. I love silver, it doesnt show scratches, dirt etc near as badly as a dark color.

yes. it does look great. i want to know too. my oxford has less than perfect paint.

Looks nice. What chemical did you use with Porter Cable? I have the same silver color and the paint has so many swirls. Had used Blackmagic wax and swirls remover without much success. Thanks.

Thanks all, I feel honored. It took about 6- 6.5 hours, a couple beers, good tunes and the following:
Washed her down.
Meguiar's Clay (I was pretty amazed at what that did alone)
3M Perfect It II Rubbing Compound and Perfect It foam pad black- yes, it had been awhile since the last detail and really needed a scrubbing.
3M Perfect It II Foam Polishing Pad Glaze and black pad again
Wizard's Polymer wax 2 coats vertical and three on the flats plus the rims (check em out: http://www.wizardproducts.com/howtouse.html#master
Very happy with the results but the previous owner, as JR, Scott, and Brandon can attest to, ran it through LOTS of machine car washes and without repainting most of the 'cuts' will remain. I cured about 50-70% of the ugliness though. I took my time and really worked a 2x2 or 3x3 section over from all angles before I moved on. Word to the wise- go to Walmart, CostCo or wherever and really stock up on microfibers. I was going through em pretty quick and luckily had a stash of them.

No luck on the tank yet--gotta fix that and get a 3.15 in sometime soon. Talked to Brandon today actually, gonna try and get you guys over for some grilling if we can all make the same date. C ya
