Another Check Engine Light

During the process of flushing the cooling system on my 328 last week I started getting a check engine light. I noticed that when I removed the block plug it would spray all over the O2 sensor. Did I trash it?

Cooling system is finished today and I still have the check engine light.

Can I disconnect the battery to reset it?

I took it out for a drive yesterday after doing the transmission service and let it sit overnight. Today I started it up and no check engine light.
Cool....................

I'll have someone pull the codes later.
