I have a 93 525iT with an auto trans. The switch on the selector panel seems to have no effect whatsoever on the mode of the transmission - it always stays in "economy". I swapped it with my sunroof switch with no effect on the trans, and the trans switch worked the sunroof - so I know the switch itself is good. There are no blown fuses and the trans shifts and performs fine otherwise.
Any ideas?
