I would like to get to the battery, however I am unable to lift the rear seat. I have the sedan, not with optional fold down seats. So someone please enlighten me. How do I get to the battery??? Owners manual is no help.

Thanks!

Well, you just lift it. Pull up, hard, on the front edge of the rear seat at about the middle of the seat cusion on either side (IIRC). It should pop up, there are 2 fasteners holding it down (again, IIRC).

Oh... and if that doesn't work... try YANKING at it. (and even HARDER than you just pulled in 632's message)

This helps if your about 4 1/2 feet ( 1 1/2 meters for those outside the US) tall. You sit in the middle of the back seat. reach down around under the seat and there are 2 spots for your hands. Grab on and stand up like you're trying to squat about 500 pounds or a whole lot of kilos. Just keep jumping up and down. You'll know when you've got it because your head will slam into the roof. Installation is reverse of removal.

I use both hands to pound the center of each seat pad like a Neanderthal to get the thing back on! I'm too tall to use scott's 4 1/2-foot-tall removal procedure.

It helps to slide it back as you kneel too btw- sometimes you won't be able to get the slots to line up properly without a good amount of force. I usually jam myself between the front seat and the rear and sort of kneel with my knee into it- works every time.
