New Bowden cables in the front doors, an oil change, a radiator flush and a fresh tank of gas.

Thought about some 17" rims but the road I drive to the barn is bumpy to say the least and the 'burb is running like crap for some reason.

I just bought a tub of Swissol Concorso wax for my car. This stuff is pretty expensive, but pretty special too. I'm just about to head outdoors and wash the car, then try out the new wax. I'll post some pics when I'm done!

Thinking about taking her to a body shop to get the hood and trunk polished out and touch up the paint a little, Whoever had it before me had dogs, or REALLY big cats, because there are animal claw marks around the door handles and also on the trunk :(

New tires, then touch up some stone chips on the bonnet and surface rust under the fuel filler door and the bottom corner of a passenger door. I'll give her new thrust arms with fresh bushings and ball joints for her birthday in July.

Subwoofer installed, M5 filler plate + new badge perhaps, and a license plate delete strip up front. My diff. is leaking, so that's gotta get patched up too. That should cover it.

I don't know, I didn't say it was the most expensive, certainly Swissol has several more waxes available that are even more expensive, but whichever way you look at it, $AUD300 for 200ml is expensive. Still, i'm pretty happy with the results:

A set of German plates -- I actually bought 5 -- from eBay. I have 2 from Berlin with euroband, 2 from Munich with euroband and one from Munich before euro-plates (old-school German plates). I've got them just today early this morning, so it's an early xmas pressie.

Unfortunately it's illegal to drive with them on here in Australia, so the next best thing I can do is put them on while my car's in the driveway and take photos :(

A new 3.73 LSD for my 7...
Don, you like the 3.73:1 pumpkin behind an m30 5 speed? I installed a 3.73:1 recently, as the 3.64:1 lsd got very whiney. The % difference isn't much, but for some reason, it just isn't very comfortable on the highway. 80mph indicated sees right at 3k rpm's; but it seems buzzy. Also, 1st gear is varly needed with the 3.73. Jeff N mentioned something along the same lines after we installed his 3.73:1 lsd; I now agree.

The 3.64:1 lasted almost 2 years, after a differential rebuild place in Kirkland, Wa swapped front flanges from the original 3.46 open box. I guess that may be why you're sourcing a 3.73lsd, as they are native to the 735?

bavauto springs have gotten some pretty good reviews.

bilstein/Eibach is the combo you want if you go with bilsteins.

oh, the topic!

hopefully i will get myself a new radiator, maybe some trans mounts, subframe mounts and urethane filler, new tires, maybe the mtech license filler, as that would look pretty kickass on calypso, and cover the badly worn paint in that area!

Bilstein Shocks on Bavauto Springs...
It seems that Bavauto springs get a regular pasting for being soggy and the Bilsteins for being harsh.

I'm running Eibach Prokit springs and Koni sports which I'm happy with.
Just my 2c! :)

Don, you like the 3.73:1 pumpkin behind an m30 5 speed?

Well, I've been running a 3.91 in it for going on 3 years now. The diff is still tight with no whines even after putting a new seal in the input flange. Yes, 1st is pretty much useless but I still use it more often than not. 2nd is spot-on. 5th gear at 80 mph is only 50 rpm higher than 4th in the auto with the stock 4.27 diff -- now talk about useless 1st gear with the 5-spd with the 4.27 . . . I drove it 2 or 3 weeks with that setup right after the swap & was shifting 2 or 3 times just to cross an intersection, it was pretty wild doing burnouts in a 7 :D & was a blast toying with all the ricers.

The 3.91 does pretty well overall at our 5500+ elevation. The 3.73 should be about right. Yes, the 3.64 was stock for a 735im. I do have a 3.64 that I was going to put in it but now I'm going to save it for my son's 89 535i that will eventually get a 5-spd conversion.

Cheers!

Martin - have you compared the relative feel of a 3.91:1.00 to a 3.73:1.00? As you know I've got the 3.91 and if/when I build up a 3.7(L) I'm thinking of a 3:64 or a 3:73 to go with it. In you expert opinion of Jeff's car... is the 3.7L too much engine for a 3.73 even?

BTW - got the m5 headers in this week. Man they're pretty. Just have to mate it up now... I'm hoping that the headers (designed for a higher revving 3.6L) will be just right for 3500 - 6000 RPM in a 3.7. Haven't done the math yet...

Robin, I like the 3.64 in the 535 5 speed. Umm, I don't think the 3.7L MM m30 is too much motor in any manner, as it were. Maybe Jeff should revisit the dyno at CarbConnection to verify the torque gains(loss) since 2 motors ago. I do not understand how sightly wider flat-top pistons can increase static compression over the stock m30b35 pistons. I also do not follow the logic of gouged out chambers in the head improving or increasing the compression either.
I do miss those RD headers, since moving to CA.
Also, I'd kinda like to get my car back o a dyno. I'd like to compare wideband readings of the innovate LC-1 with dyno readings taken from the tailpipe. I suspect that the wideband readings from CarbConn may be off, as the catalytic convertor may queer things.

Bigtisas-Do you have to run 93 octane with the EAT chip?

Yes. According to EAT site, high octone fuel of 91 or higher is required.
