I'm sitting at 242,000 miles on my 1995 525i. Nothing major. Just minor wear parts that needed to be replaced such as spark plugs.

I'll be at 245K by the new year.

how much longer you think mine is going to run...lol. I think 300K before it dies. Heat barely works, a/c doesn't work. yummm. Check engine light is on. I think I need a new fuel pump probably. everything else is fine!

215,000 and still ticking, no tapping, knocking? Oh hell ... it's still going and going. Did you ever get everything figured out with the frontend? Not trying to change the topic....

sirius_GTO
12-15-2006, 12:31 AM
245K with the engine and no knocking or ticking. I suspect my fuel pump is going out because of rough idle at start up, but that may not be the case.

Yeah, I ordered the parts. Lemforder upper control arms, and FLENNOR (giving it a shot) tie rods. I'll get the wheel balanced and aligned and the "nut" behind the wheel tightened (whatever that may be). Hopefully that helps. It's a friend doing it for me at his shop, so if I needed to order lower control arms as well, we can do it and he can wait. I just didn't want to invest another $160 bucks if I didn't need to.

Thanks Felix.

161k and change.

Not too much in the way of maintenance. New arms/bushings a couple of years ago, new radiator last summer, new brakes, tires once in a while, oil every 3k or so. Next week it's oil and a radiator flush.

I've had so much good luck with this that the mrs is thinking of getting one for herself.

I was just thinking, it's funny how much money has been put into these cars for gas alone. For me:

131,000 / 350(miles per tank avg) = 374.3 tanks of gas

374.3 x 35(avg $ per tank over the years) = $13,100.

I guess that's not so bad. Equates to $770 a year in gas.

I would have to say thats pretty well for the 2.5 yeah??
What else is everyone getting out of the 2.5/3.5??

My average of consumption city and freeway came out to about 350 miles. I filled up to 19 gallons(us). Average of 18.42 from, close to my OBC avg mpg. Yay!

Does anyone use the obc start inhibit "code" button???? I acutally just learned about it a few months ago. Surprised the 89 had it.

My 2.5L on standalone with a lean cruise got me 339 miles to the tank when I filled it up it took 17.1 gallons - meaning I had 4.3 gallons left, which should put it over the 400 miles per tank mark - not bad for a 2.5L Turbo :)

I leaned it out about .2 more points - we'll see if I collect any more mileage.

Looks like all the competition is for the high miles. I bought her at 43600 miles in November and she now has 49800. Replaced all the bushings bilstiens and just added 4.27 LSD. She has some guts now. But the tradeoff is freeway noise over seventy. I like to see so many m30s over 200k!

189,000 miles on a 1989 535i SE - seems to be quite low milage compared with most of you guys - with petrol at its current price (1.18€/77p/1.52US$ - per litre) and me averaging only 21miles to the gallon (14.8 litres per 100km) - rekon she'll be staying at 189,000 for quite a while yet - especially as we have snow here atm. Am using the 'Smart Car' - far more economical.....and I am less likely to 'loose it' on the country roads which surround my home (and are never gritted)....
