New to 3-series

I'm looking to buy a low mileage '89 325ic from my stepfather. It needs a fuel pump (making noise) and an A/C retrofit. Otherwise it's pretty nice. Any tips for those not knowledgeable in the 3-series or BMW's at all? I'm a car guy and mechanically inclined, just not with this (yet.)
Any recommended sites for parts/manuals/clubs/etc?
